The concept behind the new sleeve revolves around Virat Kohli’s journey as a person. According to the team at Aliens Tattoo, the artwork represents the phases he has moved beyond, the milestones he has arrived at, and the direction he continues to move in. It serves as a visual narrative of a life shaped by discipline, unwavering belief, and constant growth.

Interestingly, the project wasn't started on a blank canvas. Virat Kohli’s left arm already carried several older tattoos, including an incomplete armband inspired by Lord Shiva. Over the years, the older ink had begun to lose its sharpness and clarity. A significant part of this new project involved "restoring and reviving" these fragments. The artists focused on bringing back depth to the skies of the Shiva piece and restoring contrast to ensure it held its place within the larger, more cohesive composition.
At the heart of the new design are three primary elements: a lotus, a peony, and a massive mandala.
The Lotus: Positioned prominently on the tricep and shoulder, the lotus holds the most profound significance. It is a symbol of rising from "muddy waters" while remaining untouched by the environment, blooming with purity and resilience. For Kohli, this mirrors his own journey of maintaining focus and peace amidst the high-pressure world of international cricket.
The Mandala: Expanding from the elbow, a detailed mandala anchors the entire flow of the arm. Built entirely using meticulous dotwork, the mandala introduces a structural discipline to the piece. Every line and point within the geometry is intentional, though the specific meanings behind the internal elements of the mandala remain a private story known only to Virat.
The Peony: On the back of the shoulder, a geometric peony adds a different visual texture, executed through stippling to create a striking contrast with the more realistic elements of the sleeve.

Allan Gois led the cover-ups and the restoration of the original armband through realism. Devendra Palav specialised in the intricate dotwork and mandala structure, while Sunny Bhanushali worked on the high-contrast realism to bring intensity and balance to the overall composition.
Unlike standard tattoo sessions, this sleeve is being built over time. Virat Kohli has been dedicating specific days from his packed schedule to sit for the sessions, allowing the artwork to evolve layer by layer. The artists emphasize that there is no rush to finish; the goal is precision and intent rather than speed.
