T20 World Cup: Social media was flooded with hilarious memes after Pakistan suffered a shock defeat to co-hosts USA.

The T20 World Cup, which is being played in the West Indies and USA, began on June 1, but it is fair to say that the tournament has taken a week to finally come alive. Co-hosts USA stunned Babar Azam-led Pakistan as the South Asian cricket giant stayed true to its moniker of being the "most unpredictable cricket team." If you are an ardent cricket watcher, then you would be aware of the common saying associated with Pakistan -- "you never know which Pakistan team turns up on the day".

Pakistan displayed a below-par performance as the USA defeated them in a thrilling Super Over encounter. Now, if Pakistan end up losing against India on Sunday, then the Babar Azam-led side are running the risk of being eliminated in the group stage itself.

As Pakistan stumbled to a shock defeat, the internet started coming up with hilarious memes, and some of them are just too funny to be missed.

Here are some of the best reactions:

Coming back to the match that was played at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Pakistan was asked to bat first and the side posted just 159/7 in 20 overs. Babar Azam top-scored with 44 runs off 43 balls, but his innings is being severely bashed on social media.

The USA then scored 159/3 in their allotted 20 overs, and the match progressed to a Super Over.

In the Super Over, Mohammad Amir ended up conceding 18 runs, and USA was able to defend this, registering a famous win over the cricket giants.

After the humiliating loss, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said, "First 6 overs while batting we didn’t capitalise. Back to back wickets always put you on the back foot, as a batter you need to step up and build partnerships. We were not up to the mark in the first 6 overs with the ball."

"Our spinners also did not take wickets in the middle overs so these things cost us. Very hard, all credit to USA, they played better than us in all three departments. Little bit of moisture in the pitch, it was also two-paced. As a professional you need to assess the conditions," he added.
