Shikhar Dhawan’s fiancée Sophie Shine ditched a traditional Indian ensemble for her Mehendi ceremony, choosing a comfortable brown tank top and matching pants.
Wedding celebrations for former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and his fiancée Sophie Shine are currently underway, with the bride-to-be drawing attention for her unconventional yet practical approach to one of the most time-intensive Hindu wedding rituals — the mehendi ceremony.
After a string of glamorous pre-wedding functions, Sophie chose comfort over couture for the occasion.

In photos shared on her Instagram Stories, she was seen wearing a simple brown tank top paired with matching track pants while getting her mehendi applied. The Irish native, who met Shikhar in Dubai, appeared relaxed as she spent hours seated while intricate henna designs were created on her hands, arms, and feet.
Her mehendi featured traditional motifs such as peacocks, elephants, and floral patterns that extended well past her wrists.
Captioning one of her solo shots as “Work in progress,” Sophie highlighted the lengthy application process. Other glimpses from the ceremony showed her surrounded by friends and family, smiling as she sat comfortably on a sofa while the artists worked.
Sophie’s laid-back mehendi look marked a noticeable departure from the couple’s earlier engagement and sangeet celebrations, which leaned heavily into high-glamour aesthetics.

Just hours before the mehendi ceremony, the duo had shared portraits from their engagement, with Shikhar dressed in a pristine white sherwani and Sophie in a heavily embellished gold lehenga styled with traditional Indian jewellery and a maang tikka.
Her sangeet ensemble stood out as a striking example of classic opulence blended with contemporary glamour. Sophie wore an antique-gold lehenga in a warm champagne-bronze hue, intricately embroidered with zari, sequins, and threadwork. The design incorporated elaborate floral motifs, birds, and delicate butterfly accents.
The look was complemented by a structured, embellished choli featuring a flattering sweetheart neckline, along with subtle red piping that added contrast to the gold palette. A sheer dupatta adorned with lattice-work embroidery and scalloped borders was draped gracefully over her shoulders, enhancing the overall grandeur.
She completed the outfit with statement bridal jewellery, including a layered choker set, matching earrings, a maang tikka, and stacked bangles in a traditional gold finish.
The couple had announced their engagement on January 2, 2026, with a romantic social media post featuring a rose-filled backdrop and a close-up of Sophie’s engagement ring.
They wrote, “From shared smiles to shared dreams. Grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever - Shikhar & Sophie.”
Having dated for several years, the couple is now reportedly set to tie the knot in the Delhi-NCR region during the third week of February. This will mark Shikhar Dhawan’s second marriage.
