‘Naatu Naatu’ composer MM Keeravaani accepted the award on stage, presented by ‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega.
‘Naatu Naatu’, a dance number featuring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, beat out Taylor Swift’s 'Carolina' from 'Where the Crawdads Sing', 'Ciao Papa' from 'Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio', Lady Gaga’s 'Hold My Hand' from 'Top Gun: Maverick', and 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', performed by Rihanna.
India previously scripted history in the Best Original Score category over a decade ago, when AR Rahman won for Danny Boyle’s 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
‘RRR’ was also nominated in the ‘Best Non-English Language Film’ category. However, this was won by ‘Argentina, 1985’.
The Golden Globes 2023, hosted by Jerrod Charmichael, was held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. The nominations for the awards ceremony were announced on December 12, 2022.
