After nearly two decades of celebrity confessions, controversial quotes, and unforgettable couch moments, Karan Johar is officially serving his final cup of coffee. ‘Koffee With Karan’ is returning for its ninth and finale season, and the filmmaker has pulled out all the stops by bringing in none other than Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to kick things off. Set to premiere on October 14 at 7 PM on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar, the first episode's promo promises a perfect blend of nostalgia, unfiltered banter, and the revival of a million-dollar question.
Karan Johar wastes no time setting the tone for the highly anticipated premiere. He welcomes Salman by cleverly referencing the actor’s recent viral remark to activist Sonam Wangchuk regarding the Gen Z protests in July. Karan quips, “A wise man once said, 'Its done bro'. So, who better to kick off my final season than the man himself – Salman Khan.”

In classic Salman fashion, the actor flips the script the moment he arrives. He immediately takes over the host’s chair, forcing Karan onto the guest couch. When a bewildered Karan asks, “Should I sit there?”, Salman flashes a smile and declares, “Ya, sit there. After Koffee With Karan, here we have Koffee With Salman.”
Fans of the show will vividly remember Salman Khan’s ‘Koffee’ debut in Season 4 (2013) alongside his father, Salim Khan, where he famously declared, “Yes, I'm a virgin,” claiming he was saving himself for marriage.
Karan Johar couldn't resist revisiting the iconic moment for the finale season. In the teaser, Karan directly fires the million-dollar question: “Are you still a virgin?” Mimicking actor Ravi Kishan's signature style, Salman playfully coyly dodges, responding, “Control, brother, control.”
The teaser also highlights a more reflective side of the superstar. When Karan points out, “You seem so different, just a lot more composed,” Salman laughs and admits that he is finally taking his own medicine. “All the advices that I've given, it is high time that I follow my own advices,” he shares.
The conversation eventually shifts to the pressures of public scrutiny, referencing Salman's recent remarks on ‘Bigg Boss’ about online trolling and the relentless paparazzi culture. Expressing his clear frustration with the constant camera glares, Salman jokes, “If I find the person who put a camera in the phone…”
Salman even questions Karan’s motives behind wrapping up the beloved chat show. He hilariously accuses the filmmaker of using the "final season" tag as a master strategy to lure elusive celebrities onto the couch. “Aisa toh nahi hai na ki last season bol bol ke you've got all of us to do Koffee with Karan,” Salman jokes. When Karan assures him it truly is the end, Salman pulls out a classic ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ dialogue, pleading, “Tussi na jaao Karan.”
And when it comes to the iconic ‘Koffee’ hamper, Salman makes his priorities crystal clear. “Why will I fight for the hamper? I'll fight for pamper! Pamper!”
The journey to this final season has been an emotional one for Karan Johar. In an emotional video posted on September 30, Karan reflected on the show's 22-year history, spanning eight seasons and 161 episodes. He recalled how his late father, Yash Johar, was initially skeptical of the concept back in 2004, asking, “Karan you going to call your friends and chat with them. You do it every day. Who is going to pay you for that?”
Yash Johar passed away on June 26, 2004, and Karan shot the very first episode shortly after, on August 16, 2004. Looking back at the legacy he built, Karan noted, “I called lovers, I called friends, I called families, I called lovers who then went on to become ex-lovers. Some of them even got married. I nearly put an end to the careers of national icons. I'm living with the word nepotism even today.” He humorously added that "conjecture" became a national word and wondered why fans always ask about the next season of KWK rather than his next feature film.
While Salman – who also famously appeared in Season 5 for the 100th episode with his brothers Sohail and Arbaaz Khan – is the only officially confirmed guest so far, the rumour mill is in overdrive. Speculation suggests the final season guest list could be packed with heavyweights like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Jaya Bachchan, and Farhan Akhtar, alongside younger digital stars and South Indian stars like Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna.
