The world cannot wait to see the intensity brought to the role of Raavan by Yash in Namit Malhotra's 'Ramayana'. The makers recently chose the occasion of Dussehra to unveil a closer look at the actor’s portrayal of the legendary king of Lanka. Titled 'Ravana Tandav' in Hindi, the nearly two-minute sequence centres on Ravana’s devotion to Lord Shiva, offering audiences a taste of the character’s scale and visual treatment in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation.
The newly released video features Yash in a striking transformation, with fierce expressions and a commanding screen presence shaping the portrayal. Set to the Shiv Tandav Stotram, the sequence builds around Ravana’s devotion to Shiva, combining ritualistic imagery with an intense musical presentation.
The scene opens with Ravana cutting his palm with a dagger and applying a Tripund tilak to his forehead. He then performs aarti before a towering idol of Lord Shiva before launching into the Tandav. As the hymn gathers momentum, the sequence intersperses Yash’s performance with dramatic visual montages, establishing Ravana as a powerful and imposing presence in the epic’s retelling.

The musical unit also brings together a prominent creative team. A R Rahman has composed the music, Dr Kumar Vishwas has written the lyrics, and Vishal Dadlani has performed the Hindi version.
For the unversed, in the Hindu tradition, the Tandav is associated with Lord Shiva’s cosmic dance and the forces of creation and destruction. Ravana, widely known in mythology as a devoted worshipper of Shiva, is traditionally linked to the Shiva Tandava Stotram.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ brings together a large ensemble to reimagine one of India’s most enduring mythological stories for the big screen. Alongside Ranbir as Rama and Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Ravi Dubey portrays Lakshman.
The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on November 5. The advance booking for the film began on Tuesday evening and according to Sacnilk, the project has already sold tickets worth Rs 4.96 for the opening day. 'Ramayana' has sold 86.187 tickets so far, and the film is expected to shatter records left, right and centre on the opening day of its release.
The advance booking is currently being dominated by the Karnataka region and it's no surprise considering the popularity of Kannada superstar Yash, who's previous release 'Toxic' also recorded housefull boards on the opening day despite negative reviews. Maharashtra and Delhi are also recording respectable ticket sales for 'Ramayana' for the opening day.
