Kashmera Shah Furiously Defends Sunita Ahuja Amid Explosive Govinda-Komal Rani Swarnkar Saga

The Bollywood rumour mill is working overtime, and this time, the drama has spilled entirely into the public domain. The controversy surrounding 90s superstar Govinda, his wife Sunita Ahuja, and his ‘Roopa’ co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar has escalated dramatically. The feud is no longer just quiet whispers; it’s a full-blown family defense strategy, with actress Kashmera Shah – wife of Govinda’s nephew, Krushna Abhishek – stepping into the ring to fiercely defend her aunt-in-law, Sunita.

The tension reached a boiling point after Sunita Ahuja made an emotional, public plea to women and the Gen Z crowd, stating her home was “falling apart”. In response, Kashmera took to Instagram with a powerful message of solidarity, hitting back at severe allegations without explicitly naming Komal Rani.
Kashmera’s post was a direct counter to recent, shocking claims from Komal Rani, who alleged that Sunita had been trying to “kill” Govinda for years. Kashmera didn't hold back: “Since the beginning of my career — 30 years and 50 films in total — not ‘one co-star’ of mine knew anything about my personal life or feelings. The only person I told everything to was the person I married, Krushna Abhishek. I have never heard of such a bond in a work environment where a co-worker knows such intimate details.”

She passionately continued, defending the fierce nature of the women in her family. “I know I am a strong woman and I married into a family of strong women. We are often called rude, obnoxious, dominating, focused, and selfish just because we look out for our families. But this is the first time we are called ‘murderers’. So if every mother, wife, sister, aunt and their dogs are called murderers for protecting the ‘one man’ that they love — be it the father, the husband, the brother, or the dog — then so be it. I am proud that you are such a woman, Sunita Ahuja, and I will always stand by you.”
Komal Rani, however, wasn't staying silent. Taking to her Instagram stories – again, avoiding direct names – she fired back at the accusations that she was responsible for the marital discord. “Jo aurat apne hi pati ko salon se jaan se marne ki koshish kar rahi ho, aisi auraton ki badduayen kisi ko nhi lagti.”
She added, “Nobody can ever be a homebreaker in an already broken house. People in our country are not so foolish that they would run after a crow, just because someone told them the crow has taken your ear.”
Her statements grew even more intense as she questioned the public display of marital strife. “I don't understand what kind of pain a woman is going through, where, instead of trying to heal it, she seems to enjoy putting it on display in public. Is this really a pain, or is it a carefully thought-out conspiracy? To constantly mentally harass a man, stop him from working, force him to sit at home and waste away, isolate him completely and drive him to the point of death. I don't think any good and devoted wife could treat her husband so terribly.”
This fiery exchange of words gained momentum following a highly scrutinized public appearance. Govinda and Komal Rani were recently spotted together at Mumbai's famous Lalbaugcha Raja pandal. While Govinda maintained they were there for an upcoming film and claimed the rumours are a “strategically planned” attempt to tarnish his image, the timing raised eyebrows. Sunita had visited the exact same pandal alone just a few hours prior.
During her solitary visit, Sunita told the media, “Mere bhi jeevan mein kuch rakshas hain, aur main Mata ke dwaar bolne aaye hoon ki unka bhi naash karein.” She added her heartbreaking plea: “Jitne bhi Gen Z bacche ho, auratein ho, mujhe support kijiye. Joh mere saath ho raha hai, vo accha nahi ho raha hai. Mera ghar toot raha hai, for no reason.”
For the unversed, Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in 1987 and share two children, Tina and Yashvardhan. Their marriage has seen recent turbulence. In February 2025, Govinda’s lawyer confirmed Sunita had filed for divorce, though they later reconciled. By August 2026, the petition was reportedly withdrawn. Yet, the persistent rumours regarding Govinda and Komal Rani have kept the spotlight glaring. Just last August, Sunita reportedly claimed during a phone call with Rakhi Sawant that Govinda and Komal were planning to marry – a claim Govinda's manager quickly dismissed.
As the allegations fly and family members take sides, this real-life Bollywood drama is proving to be more dramatic than any script.
