Tina Turner, known as Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, has died aged 83.

Famous Rock 'n' Roll star Tina Turner has died aged 83. The musician passed away in Switzerland. “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model," Variety quoted the singer's representative as saying.

Tina Turner had ascended to the top of stardom with the 1984 Capitol Records album 'Private Dancer'.

"I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her," Mick Jagger tweeted.

Former US President Barack Obama tweeted: "Tina Turner was raw. She was powerful. She was unstoppable. And she was unapologetically herself—speaking and singing her truth through joy and pain; triumph and tragedy. Today we join fans around the world in honoring the Queen of Rock and Roll, and a star whose light will never fade."

The collection went on to sell five million copies and it also garnered four Grammy Awards, reported Variety.

Tina Turner won eight Grammys in her career and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.

She was also recognised at the 2005 Kennedy Center Honors for her career achievements.

Tina Turner had began her career with Ike Turner's 'Kings of Rhythm' in 1957. 

Tina Turner also acted in movies like 'Tommy' (1975) and 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome' (1985). 

Having sold over 100 million records worldwide, Tina Turner is one of the best-selling recording artists of all time.
