Speaking about returning as the host for the Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel said, “I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times.”

As per Variety, Emmy nominee Molly McNearney will also return to serve as an executive producer for the second consecutive in a row.

Jimmy Kimmel previously led the 2017, 2018 and 2023 telecasts. The popular talk show host will now join other stars such as Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon who have hosted the Oscars ceremony four times each.

The only stars who have hosted Oscars ceremony more than four times are Johnny Carson (5), Billy Crystal (9) and Bob Hope (11).

For the unversed, the 95th Academy Awards saw a bump in viewership, attracting an average audience of 18.8 total million viewers, up 13 per cent from the previous figures. Oscars 2023 also outperformed the 2023 Grammys and Emmys by more than double.

Oscars 2023 was a memorable one for India as the 2022 Telugu movie ‘RRR’, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, scripted history by bagging a win in the Best Original song category for its popular song ‘Naatu Naatu’. Another win for India came in the form of Kartiki Gonsalves’ directorial ‘The Elephant Whisperers’, which picked up the Best Documentary Short Film award.

This year, Warner Bros’ ‘Barbie’ and Universal Pictures’ ‘Oppenheimer’ are expected to be heavy favourites in the best picture race alongside critically acclaimed movies such as ‘American Fiction’, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘Maestro’ and ‘Poor Things’.

Oscars 2024 will be executive produced by Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan and Hamish Hamilton. Raj Kapoor will also serve as the showrunner.

The 96th Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre on March 10, 2024.
