American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has finally broken her silence on her divorce with Ben Affleck. Months after officially parting ways with the ‘Air’ actor, Jennifer Lopez discussed how her world “exploded” in 2024 and the personal growth that followed. Speaking to comedian Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine, E! News quoted the singer as saying, “You have to be complete if you want something that’s more complete. I thought I’d learned that, but I hadn’t. This summer, I realised I needed to go off and be on my own.”
“Being in a relationship doesn’t define me. I can’t be searching for happiness in others. I have to find happiness within myself,” she added.
Reflecting on the end of her marriage, Jennifer Lopez admitted it wasn’t what she expected. “Not for one second. It almost took me out for good, but now I see it was exactly what I needed,” she said, as per E! News.
Jennifer Lopez also revealed that she is not interested in dating anyone currently. “There’s no new bar because I’m not looking for anybody. I’m focused on flying solo,” she stated.
For the unversed, Jennifer Lopez is a mother to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
“I know who I am, and I know I’m a good person, a good mum. My friends and family know who I am,” said Jennifer Lopez while addressing the false narratives around her life.
Jennifer Lopez also shared how stepping back from her career, including cancelling a tour, was necessary to focus on herself. “It was the hardest time of my life, but also the best, because I was able to do that work on myself,” she said.
“I’ll be back on stage and shaking my ass sooner than you think,” she added.
As per Variety, Jennifer Lopez had addressed her relationship with Ben Affleck in her most recent album, ‘This Is Me … Now’, a sequel to her 2002 album ‘This Is Me … Then’.
