Actress Angelina Jolie has hinted towards taking a break from acting as she opened up about her Bell’s Palsy diagnosis, and her separation from Brad Pitt.
Actress Angelina Jolie has hinted towards taking a break from acting as she opened up about her Bell’s Palsy diagnosis, and her separation from Brad Pitt. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal magazine, Angelina Jolie opened up on her current state of mind, revealing that she lost the ability to live and travel freely after her divorce from Brad Pitt.
For the unversed, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had separated in 2016, after an alleged altercation aboard a private jet. The duo were then involved in a legal battle for the custody of their children, and the division of their business interests.
“I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade, in a way. Which I don’t want to get into," said Angelina Jolie.
“My body reacts very strongly to stress. My blood sugar goes up and down. I suddenly had Bell’s palsy six months before my divorce," she added.
Angelina Jolie also said that she cannot have a social life in Hollywood, because every time she steps out, she ends up attracting attention.
“I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity. When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much,” she said.
Jolie said that her six children – Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and 15-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – are her closest friends.
"We had to heal. There are things we needed to heal from. I realised my closest friends are refugees. Maybe four out of six of the women that I am close to are from war and conflict," said Angelina Jolie.
After her separation with actor Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie has starred in only four live-action films. She is currently filming a biopic of the opera singer Maria Callas.
Brad Pitt, on the other hand, has starred in several high-profile films since 2016, and has also won an Oscar.
