Did You Know: Not Actress, Sridevi Wanted Janhvi Kapoor To Choose THIS Profession
Did you know Janhvi Kapoor's mother, the late Sridevi, did not want her to become an actress?
Janhvi Kapoor is one of the most popular young Bollywood actresses, and she is going from strength to strength. Her latest release 'Mr & Mrs Mahi' exceeded all expectations on the opening day of its release, and the new Hindi movie registered a fantastic box office number for a mid-budget film. The new Hindi movie, which also stars Rajkummar Rao, has received mixed reviews, but the audience reception has been phenomenal. But did you know there was a time when Sridevi's mother, the late Sridevi, did not want her daughter to become an actress. In an interview, Janhvi Kapoor revealed that her mother told her that she wouldn't wish the life of an actor on her worst enemy, and that she would have wanted Janhvi to become a doctor instead.
"Mom actually never wanted me to become an actor. We’re a result of our parents’ ambitions, but also their insecurities. She had spent so much time in front of the camera, seen all of it, done all of it… She would keep telling me, ‘I’ve toiled away so that I can give my girls an easy life. This is not an easy life. It is not as glamorous as you think it is," Janhvi told Karan Johar, in a video posted on Dharma Productions' official YouTube channel.
"I really just want you to have a comfortable life. This is not it’. And she told me, Karan. She said, ‘The comparisons that are going to come with you becoming an actor being my daughter, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy’. She said that repeatedly, and she said, ‘Why can’t you just become a doctor?," she added.
Speaking further, Janhvi Kapoor said, "It’s all I knew, it’s all I’ve seen, it’s everything that I’ve loved. Every positive memory that I’ve had growing up, the associations I’ve made spending time with my family, all have something to do with films. The love that I feel for movies and acting is in my blood.”
For the unversed, Janhvi Kapoor had made her Bollywood debut with 'Dhadak' in 2018. Sridevi passed away in the same year, just a few months before Janhvi Kapoor made her debut.
Speaking of Janhvi Kapoor, she will be seen in ‘Ulajh’, which will hit the theatres on July 5. She will also mark her Telugu debut with ‘Devara: Part 1’, co-starring Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan.
