Vikrant Massey-starrer '12th Fail' has gone past the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office.

'12th Fail', directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, released in theatres on October 27, 2023, and nobody expected the new Hindi movie to earn big money at the box office. However, the new Hindi film, starring Vikrant Massey, Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee, has proved everyone wrong, and in the latest Bollywood movie news, the new Hindi movie has gone past the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Wednesday confirmed that '12th Fail' has indeed gone past the Rs 50 crore mark, and the new Hindi movie is now a "superhit".

This collection of Rs 50 crore is of great significance for '12th Fail' and its makers. It proves that good content will always resonate with the audience. 

The new Hindi film also braved competition from 'Tiger 3', starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. For the unversed, the Maneesh Sharma-directorial had released on November 12, 2023, but '12th Fail' continued to march ahead.

'12th Fail' received glowing reviews from critics and it outperformed Kangana Ranaut's 'Tejas' which released on the same day.

For the unversed, '12th Fail' is based on the 2019 non-fiction book by Anurag Pathak about the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer.

As per several reports, the makers of '12th Fail' have also submitted their movie for the upcoming Oscars 2024 as an independent entry. 

India's official entry for the Oscars 2024 is Malayalam film '2018' starring Tovino Thomas. For the unversed, '2018' features an ensemble cast and it is based on the floods that hampered Kerala in 2018.

Apart from Tovino Thomas, the Malayalam film also stars Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Narain and Lal.
