'Stree 2' Scripts History, First Hindi Film To Enter Rs 600 Crore Club

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer 'Stree 2' has gone past the Rs 600 crore mark.

Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer 'Stree 2' has scripted history at the box office. The mid-budget film has exceeded all expectations to emerge as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. 'Stree 2' has now become the first film to go past the Rs 600 crore mark in the Hindi language. Overall, it is the second Hindi film to breach this mark after Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan'. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Stree 2' had minted Rs 598.90 crore by Saturday.

On Sunday, the film added Rs 5.32 crore to its total, bringing the domestic earnings to an impressive Rs 604.22 crore.

'Stree 2' saw a major boost in collections on Friday (September 20) owing to National Cinema Day, as ticket prices dropped to Rs 99.

The Amar Kaushik directorial has already surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.

For the unversed, 'Jawan' had earned Rs 582 crore in its Hindi version and Rs 643 crore at the domestic box office, including collections from its Tamil and Telugu versions.

'Stree 2' has also outperformed other blockbusters such as Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal’, Sunny Deol's 'Gadar 2' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan'.

Coming back to 'Stree 2', the new Hindi movie has earned more than Rs 800 crore worldwide. When it comes to 'Jawan', the film raked in more than Rs 1,100 crore worldwide.

'Stree 2' is also the first non-action film to enter the Rs 500 crore club. Talking about 'Stree 2', the film also features cameos by Varun Dhawan, Tamannaah Bhatia and Akshay Kumar.

For the unversed, 'Stree 2' earlier became the sixth Hindi film to enter the Rs 500 crore club after 'Jawan', 'Gadar 2', 'Pathaan', 'Animal' and 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'.
