Amid high expectations, the underwhelming performance of ‘Fighter’ has sent shockwaves through Bollywood.

‘Fighter’, starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor, is Siddharth Anand’s latest directorial venture. After delivering hits like ‘War’ and ‘Pathaan’, expectations were high from Siddharth Anand’s ‘Fighter’. However, ‘Fighter’ has been struggling at the box office. The underwhelming performance of ‘Fighter’ has sent shockwaves through the Hindi film industry. The Siddharth Anand directorial, co-starring Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi and Sanjeeda Shaikh, is witnessing a freefall at the ticket counters in India and now, the new Hindi movie has registered its lowest single-day haul yet.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Fighter’ earned Rs 6.35 crore on Wednesday (which was the 7th day of its release), across all versions in India. And now the total nett collection of ‘Fighter’ stands at Rs 140.35 crore.

When you compare the collection of ‘Fighter’ to underperformers like Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’, and Salman Khan's ‘Tiger 3’, the collections of the new Hindi movie are noticeably low.

‘Dunki’ had collected Rs 152 crore in seven days, while ‘Tiger 3’ had made Rs 214 crore in the first seven days.

Worldwide, ‘Fighter’ is nearing the Rs 250 crore mark. However, the performance of the film in India is indeed worrisome.

‘Fighter’ is the third Bollywood film of recent times to underperform at the box office after ‘Tiger 3’ and ‘Dunki’.

Earlier, trade analyst Taran Adarsh had also given his take on the shocking business of ‘Fighter’ in India, despite good reviews and positive word-of-mouth.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Taran Adarsh wrote, "‘FIGHTER’ SHOCKS INDIA, ROCKS OVERSEAS… The underperformance of #Fighter has sent shock waves within the industry… Imagine, the film ticks all the boxes - right from star names and director’s credentials to tremendous critical acclaim and positive audience feedback… Yet, the dwindling numbers in #India are a complete shocker."

"To face a setback at the very start of the year is indeed worrisome. Having said that, while the numbers are witnessing a downward trend in #India, the biz in key international markets continue to be strong, even on weekdays… Markets like #USA, #Canada, #Australia and #NZ are still holding fort, even after an excellent weekend. How does one explain this paradox," he added.

'Fighter' is the second consecutive film for Hrithik Roshan which has had an underwhelming performance at the box office, despite a positive word of mouth. His last release 'Vikram Vedha' tanked at the box office, after earning just Rs 78.66 crore in India.

‘Fighter’, presented by Viacom18 Studios in association with Marflix Pictures, is the third collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’. The new Hindi movie is also the third collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Pathaan’.

Earlier, Siddharth Anand admitted that the success of ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, has set the bar too high for him and he is indeed feeling the “pressure of the expectations” from his audience.
