Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for projects like 'Bajirao Mastani', 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', 'Padmaavat' and 'Devdas. The filmmaker has become a brand all by himself, and fans always look forward to his upcoming movies. In the latest entertainment news, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is coming up with a Netflix series. Yes, you read that right, and it is titled 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar'. The series by Bhansali Productions comprises a cast of sparkling heeras, including the supremely talented Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Together, they personify grace on screen, each contributing to the irresistible odyssey of Heeramandi.
Netflix on Thursday unveiled the first look from the upcoming project, and it looks lavishing. The sets will leave you in awe!

The official synopsis of the show states, "In the midst of a power struggle in Heeramandi, a young heir caught in the crossfire chooses love over succession, disrupting the status quo. Set in pre-independent India against a burgeoning freedom movement, the final thread holding the art of tawaifs (courtesans) is put to the test."
"Hailed as the grandest and most-awaited series of the year, the creative visionary, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is set to unveil his 14-year passion project in collaboration with Netflix, to global audiences," it added.
'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar' has been produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Prerna Singh.
However, Netflix has not announced the release date of the epic drama series yet.
Netflix had dropped the first glimpse of 'Heeramandi' in 2023, and Bhansali had called it an “important milestone” in his journey as a filmmaker.
“This is an epic, first-of-its-kind series based on the courtesans of Lahore. It is an ambitious, grand, and all-encompassing series; therefore I am nervous yet excited about making it. I am looking forward to my partnership with Netflix and bringing Heeramandi to audiences all over the world,” he had said.
Recently, Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced the title of his upcoming Hindi movie. 'Love & War', starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, will be releasing in theatres in December 2025.
