‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna, has passed the crucial Monday test.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest directorial venture ‘Animal’ continues to make noise for good and bad reasons. The new Hindi movie, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri, was released in theatres on December 1 alongside Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial is being criticised for its misogyny, violence and vulgarity by a section of the audience. However, there is one section that was thoroughly entertained by the film, and this has led to its massive box office success.

‘Animal’ has passed the crucial Monday test with flying colours as it minted Rs 39.90 crore (early estimates) across all languages on Day 4 of its release, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The total nett domestic collection of ‘Animal’ now stands at Rs 241.43 crore.

For the unversed, first Monday collection of ‘Animal’ is significantly higher than those registered by this year’s big blockbusters -- Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan’.

Talking about the Atlee directorial ‘Jawan’, the Hindi movie had earned Rs 32.92 crore on its first Monday, while Siddharth Anand's ‘Pathaan’ collected Rs 26.50 crore on its first Monday.

The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer also went past the first Monday collection of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 (Rs 38.70 crore). It is important to mention that the only two films to have a better Monday collection than ‘Animal’ are ‘Tiger 3’ (Rs 59.25 crore) and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ (Rs 40.25 crore).

However, it is very important to mention that Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’ collected this big amount since it was a holiday on the first Monday of its release (November 13).

Talking about ‘Animal’, the overall Hindi occupancy on Day 4 of its release was 48.92 per cent, while the Telugu and Tamil occupancy was 33.30 per cent and 17.73 per cent, respectively.

This box office performance of ‘Animal’ is huge considering it is an 'A' (adults only) film and has a runtime of more than 3 hours. ‘Animal’ also clashed with Vicky Kaushal's 'Sam Bahadur' at the box office.

Talking about 'Sam Bahadur', the Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra-starrer, directed by Meghna Gulzar, made Rs 3.50 crore on Monday, taking the four day total to Rs 29.50 crore.

However, it can be safely said that 'Animal' is expected to rule the ticket counters until Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Dunki’ releases in theatres on December 21. A day later, Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ will also be releasing in theatres.
