Popular TV host Nikhil Chinapa has questioned director Vivek Agnihotri regarding a tweet made by the latter regarding his movie 'The Kashmir Files' and Oscars 2023. The director had tweeted about his movie being an "official contender from India" for the 95th Academy Awards. Vivek Agnihotri had earlier also falsely claimed that 'The Kashmir Files' had been shortlisted for Oscars 2023.

Replying to Vivek Agnihotri's tweet, Nikhil Chinappa asked: "What is an official contender?"

A user replied to Nikhil's tweet, saying: "Is there anything official about the man?"

Another user said: "Same meaning as "facts are not facts."

Another user commented: "Just hallucination by @vivekagnihotri. With this logic, all 18 lakh students are official contenders for medical seats."

Earlier, Agnihotri had also claimed that lead stars of 'The Kashmir Files' -- Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, and Anupam Kher have all been shortlisted for best actor categories at Oscars 2023.

However, it is important to mention that 'The Kashmir Files' alongside a few other Indian films have just been put on the Oscars Reminder List. When a movie has been put on this list, it just means that they compete in various categories.

However, featuring on the Reminder List does not guarantee a nomination.

‘Kantara’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘Vikrant Rona’, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’, ‘Me Vasantrao’, and ‘Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi’ are some of the films that have made it to the Oscars 2023 reminder list.

'RRR' song 'Naatu Naatu' has been shortlisted for the Oscars in the Best Original Song category while India's official Oscars entry 'The Last Show' has been shortlisted in the Best International Feature category.

The nomination voting for Oscars 2023 will begin on January 12 and the process will conclude on January 17. The final nominations will be unveiled on January 24.

The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
