Iconic pop singer Usha Uthup's husband, Jani Chacko Uthup, has died in Kolkata.

We have some sad news coming in. Iconic pop singer Usha Uthup's husband, Jani Chacko Uthup, has died in Kolkata. He was 78 years old. In the latest entertainment news, as per news agency PTI, Uthup's family shared that Jani experienced discomfort while watching television at home, and it was then that he was rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, he was announced dead on arrival, and the cause of death has now been identified as cardiac arrest. Jani’s final rites will take place on Tuesday, July 9.

Usha's daughter Anjali wrote a heartfelt note, remembering her father. Sharing a picture of him on Instagram, she wrote, "“Appa…gone too soon…but as stylishly as you lived…most handsome man in the world…we love you, a true gentleman and Lawrencian to the core and the finest Tea Taster."

For the unversed, Jani was Usha Uthup's second husband. He was a member of the tea plantation industry.

As per The Indian Express, he first met Usha Uthup at a nightclub called Trincas in the early 1970s. The two are also parents to a son named Sunny. 

Speaking of Usha Uthup, she is famous for blending various genres like pop, jazz and Indian folk. Some of her standout hits include ‘Hari Om Hari’, ‘Ramba Ho’, ‘Koi Yahan Nache Nache’, ‘One Two Cha Cha Cha’, and ‘Darling’, among many more.

Apart from being an iconic playback singer, Usha Uthup has also acted in films like ‘Bombay to Goa’ and ‘7 Khoon Maaf’.
