Bollywood megastar Salman Khan has once again proven that age is just a number when it comes to fitness. The 59-year-old actor took to Instagram on Monday to share two striking shirtless photos post an intense workout session, showing off his chiselled abs and ripped biceps. Captioned, “Kuch haasil karne ke liye kuch chhodna padta hai…Yeh bina chhode hai,” Salman hinted that his enviable physique was achieved without extreme diets or shortcuts.

In the recently shared pictures, Salman Khan let his six-pack abs and ripped biceps do all the talking.

The post instantly went viral online, with fans calling him the “OG bodybuilding icon” and “motivation of the decade.” One comment read, “Man without steroids doing it since 35 years. Bow down to the legend of Salman Khan!” Others praised his discipline, especially given his nearly four-decade-long commitment to fitness.

Just weeks earlier, Salman Khan had appeared alongside Aamir Khan on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s talk show ‘Too Much’, where he opened up about his struggle with trigeminal neuralgia, a nerve condition known for excruciating pain.

“You've got to live with it. There are a lot of people living with bypass surgeries, heart conditions, and many more. When I had trigeminal neuralgia, that pain used to be... You would not want your biggest enemy to have that pain. I had it for seven-and-a-half years. It used to pain every 4-5 minutes. It would happen suddenly, while talking... It used to take me about an hour and a half to have my breakfast, and I used to go straight to dinner. For an omelette, because, I couldn't chew it, I had to force myself, hurt myself, take as much pain, so I could get rid of the meal,” he said.

In a March 2025 interview with Live Mint, his long-time trainer Rakkesh R Uddiyar revealed details about Salman’s disciplined fitness routine. For over two decades, the actor has followed an old-school bodybuilding approach called the “giant set,” a form of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with no breaks between exercises.

“He performs about 10 different variations of chest exercises, such as inclines, push-ups, fly and more. We start with one exercise, and he moves to the next without a break. The only rest he takes is when walking from one exercise to another. He doesn't do heavy weightlifting but focuses on volume training. He will drink water in between,” the fitness coach had revealed.

Each session lasts about 45 minutes to an hour, with only short 30-second breaks between sets. “HIIT makes you sweat, tires you out faster and burns more calories in a shorter time,” the coach explained.

Salman also sticks to a disciplined schedule, waking up early for fasted cardio, weight training later in the day, and working out six days a week.

When it comes to diet, simplicity rules. The actor eats five clean meals a day, mostly home-cooked. His meals include porridge, eggs, fruits, fish or chicken, rice, and vegetables, with salads being a daily essential. “He won’t eat anything except ghar ka khana,” Rakesh revealed. His weekly cheat meal is biryani, but even then, he limits his intake to 2,000 calories.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Salman was last seen in ‘Sikandar’, which underperformed at the box office. Up next, he will be seen in ‘Battle of Galwan’ and continues to host ‘Bigg Boss 19’.
