"Khan Sir Will...": Director Atlee Answers Whether He Is Aiming To Take SRK-Starrer 'Jawan' To Oscars 2024
'Jawan' director Atlee has confirmed that he is aiming for Oscars 2024.
'Jawan' starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi is continuing its glorious run at the worldwide box office. The new Hindi movie directed by Atlee has collected more than Rs 800 crore at the global box office. In the latest entertainment news, director Atlee has confirmed that he is aiming for Oscars 2024. In a new interview, Atlee has said that he would love to push his film for the Academy Awards next year, and he added that he will be discussing this with lead actor Shah Rukh Khan.
"Of course, even Jawan should go, if everything falls in place. I think every effort, everybody, every director, every technician who is working in cinema, their eyes are on the Golden Globes, Oscars, National Awards, every award," 'Jawan' director Atlee told ETimes.
"So, definitely, yeah, I would love to take Jawan to the Oscars. Let's see. I think Khan sir will watch and read this interview. I will also ask him over a call 'Sir, should we take this film to the Oscars," he added.
When asked if he has any plans for 'Jawan 2', Atlee said: "I have still not come out of Jawan. So, generally, every film of mine has an open end. Right from Raja Rani to Bigil and Jawan. Every film has its own open ending. I have never ever thought, okay, I have to do two. But yeah, in Jawan, now everyone is asking about the sequel. Wherever I go, everyone is asking, when is Jawan 2 releasing? So, it's good curiosity coming from the audience. Let me come out of Jawan first and then let me think if I am going to do the next one."
In another interview with news agency ANI, Atlee had opened up on working with Shah Rukh Khan. Talking about SRK, Atlee said: "He is a very basic human and has a basic heart. We had to tell him that you are Shah Rukh Khan, sir. He is a very basic human by nature...He is always the same. He can never be changed."
Talking of SRK’s latest release ‘Jawan’, it also stars Sanya Malhotra, Sunil Grover, Priyamani, Ridhi Dogra, Ashlesha Thakur, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak, Lehar Khan, and Aaliyah Qureishi.
‘Jawan’, directed by Atlee and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, also features Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt in cameo appearances.
‘Jawan’ focuses on the journey of a man who sets out to correct the wrongs of society with the help of a group of women.
Shah Rukh Khan will be next seen in Rajkumar Hirani's ‘Dunki’. It stars him with Taapsee Pannu for the first time.
