Recent reports suggested that Deepika Padukone’s role in ‘Raaka’ might be cut short.

The internet has been abuzz since Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and her husband, actor Ranveer Singh, announced they are expecting their second child. However, with the joyous news came a wave of speculation regarding her professional commitments – specifically her highly anticipated collaboration with director Atlee and South superstar Allu Arjun in the upcoming film ‘Raaka’. Rumours recently began circulating that Deepika’s role in the action-heavy project was being scaled down, or that the actress might even be replaced to accommodate her pregnancy.

Fans wondered if the intense nature of an Atlee film would be feasible for the expectant mother. However, the production team has now moved swiftly to set the record straight, dismissing these claims as entirely unfounded.

In a statement addressing the speculation, the ‘Raaka’ team rubbished the reports, labelling them “baseless rumours”. The makers told The Times of India, “Everything is moving as planned. Deepika Padukone plays a crucial role in Raaka, and the shoot is unfolding seamlessly with great energy on set.”

This comes a few days after it was reported that Deepika, who announced her pregnancy on Sunday, plans to continue filming ‘Raaka’ throughout her pregnancy. One industry insider stated, “During her pregnancy, Deepika Padukone is shooting intense action sequences for Raaka… She will continue to shoot for the film throughout her pregnancy.” Deepika and the makers have taken all precautions while filming the projects.

‘Raaka’ is already positioned as one of the biggest cinematic events of the coming years. Produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Atlee – who is fresh off the massive success of ‘Jawan’ – the film marks a powerhouse pairing of Deepika Padukone and Allu Arjun. The hype for the film reached a fever pitch recently on Allu Arjun’s 44th birthday, when the makers unveiled his first look: a rugged, fierce, and striking bald avatar that promised a gritty cinematic experience.

With both ‘Raaka’ and her other project, ‘King’, running on tight production timelines, Deepika is reportedly keen to adhere to the original schedules. The film is currently slated for a 2027 release, and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the project stays on track without compromising on its scale or cast.

The professional clarification comes on the heels of a heartwarming personal announcement. On Sunday, Deepika and Ranveer Singh shared a joint Instagram post to reveal their pregnancy. The post featured a sweet image of their first daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, holding a pregnancy test showing two pink lines.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2018 in Italy following Konkani and Sindhi traditions, welcomed Dua in September 2024. While they kept her away from the spotlight for her first year, they introduced her to the world during Diwali 2025. Now, as they prepare to embrace parenthood for the second time, Deepika seems determined to balance her expanding family life with her status as one of India's most sought-after performers.
