"Why Are You Jealous": Vivek Agnihotri Slammed For "Costume Slaves" Comment On Aishwarya Rai's Red Carpet Look At Cannes 2023
Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mrunal Thakur, Sara Ali Khan and Urvashi Rautela walked the red carpet and mesmerised fans with their fashionable looks.
The Cannes Film Festival 2023 is underway and many Indian celebrities have left lasting impressions at the red carpet. Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mrunal Thakur, Sara Ali Khan and Urvashi Rautela walked the red carpet and mesmerised fans with their fashionable looks. In the latest entertainment news, 'The Kashmir Files' director Vivek Agnihotri has tweeted about the use of assistants who accompany celebrities on the red carpet.
Taking to Twitter, Vivek Agnihotri shared a picture of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's red carpet look and wrote: "Have you guys heard of a term called ‘Costume Slaves’. They are mostly girls (a suited man in this case). You can see them now in India too with almost every female celeb. Why are we becoming so stupid and oppressive just for such uncomfortable fashion?"

The fans are now questioning Vivek Agnihotri's tweet, and some even called him "jealous".
Here are some of the comments:
"Why are you jealous. Cannes not invited you," wrote one user.
"Personal choice! None of your judgemental business," commented another.
"I think the brands pay them (ambassadors) for the carpet looks. Money makes the world go round. After all, it’s a part of show-biz," wrote one user.
“They really watch movies wearing these? Man, how do they enjoy the movies? She would have been so uncomfortable," commented one user.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the red carpet on Thursday wearing a sparkling silver gown from the Sophie Couture label. The dress was also paired with a structured giant hood and it covered the actress' head.
An oversized black bow rounded up the look. However, this look of Aishwarya wasn't to the taste of many fans, and several users mocked the actress for her latest look at the Cannes Film Festival.
Aditi Rao Hydari, Vignesh Shivan, Niharika NM, Ruhee Dosani, Ranveer Allahbadia and Dolly Singh are attending the event as well.
Talking about the films, Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Kennedy’, Kanu Behl’s ‘Agra’, Yudhajit Basu’s ‘Nehemich’ and Aribam Syam Sharma’s ‘Ishanou’ are part of the Indian showcase at Cannes.
While ‘Agra’ will have its world premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight section, ‘Kennedy’, ‘Nehemich’ and ‘Ishanou’ will be showcased in the Midnight Screenings, La Cinef and Cannes Classics section, respectively.
