Fans Call ‘Thama’ “Biggest Blockbuster In The Making” After Teaser Drop. Watch
Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna headline Maddock’s vampire love story ‘Thama’, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui stealing the show as the king of darkness in its chilling first teaser.
The much-anticipated teaser of ‘Thama’, Maddock Films’ upcoming addition to its horror-comedy universe, has finally been unveiled, and it looks nothing short of “bloody” exciting. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in a vampire love story, the film had already sparked curiosity with its mysterious first-look posters. Now, with the teaser out, fans are abuzz with theories and excitement over this dark, twisted world. Directed by ‘Munjya’ fame Aditya Sarpotdar, ‘Thama’ promises a gripping supernatural saga.
Check out the teaser here:
The teaser opens with a hauntingly romantic exchange between Ayushmann and Rashmika. Ayushmann’s voice is heard asking, “Reh paaogi mere bina, 100 saal tak?” to which Rashmika replies, “100 saal kya, ek pal ke liye bhi nahi.”
The tender moment quickly spirals into chaos, cutting to flashes of violence, eerie visuals, and Rashmika’s anguished scream. Ayushmann appears wounded, his face bruised, while Rashmika, draped in traditional attire with a supernatural aura, holds him as they dangle precariously from a building.
From there, the teaser plunges viewers into the terrifying world of ‘Thama’. Strange creatures leap across trees, a goddess-like figure is seen killing a rakshas, and in one chilling shot, a man drinks blood. Much like ‘Stree’, ‘Bhediya’ and ‘Munjya’, the film seems rooted in Indian folklore while weaving in horror, comedy, and romance.
Adding glamour, the teaser features a dance number with Ayushmann and Rashmika, alongside a surprise cameo by Malaika Arora in a special song. Paresh Rawal also makes a notable appearance, while ‘Panchayat’ actor Faisal Malik is glimpsed in key moments.
But it is Nawazuddin Siddiqui who steals the final scene with his entry as Yakshasan – the king of darkness. Dressed as a vampire-like figure, he humorously demands the teaser continue, quipping that he hasn’t seen a love story in years.
Fans flooded the comments section with praise and excitement. “I’m excited for Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a villain vampire,” one wrote, while another added, “This Diwali is gonna be crazy! Ayushmann seems so perfect for such a genre.”
Many predicted a blockbuster, with comments like, “Now this is gonna be the biggest hit of the year,” and, “Malaika just casually raising the temperature.”
Character posters have already revealed that Ayushmann plays Alok – Insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed (the final hope for humanity), Rashmika as Tadaka – Roshni ki pehli kiran (the first ray of light), and Nawazuddin as Yakshasan – Andhere ka badshah (the king of darkness).
The Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe began in 2018 with ‘Stree’, followed by ‘Bhediya’ in 2022, ‘Munjya’ in 2024, and ‘Stree 2’ in 2024. With ‘Thama’ as the fourth installment, backed by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the film is set for a grand release this Diwali.
