“Keep Your Phones...”: Akshay Kumar's Special Request To Fans Ahead Of ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ Release

Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday are gearing up for the release of their upcoming film ‘Kesari Chapter 2’, which will hit the theatres on Friday, April 18. Ahead of the big day, the makers hosted a grand premiere in New Delhi that saw the presence of stars Akshay and Madhavan, along with key political figures, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. During the special evening, Akshay Kumar took a moment to interact with the media, where he shared a heartfelt message for fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release.
Akshay Kumar said, “I humbly request you all to please keep your phones in your pockets and listen to every dialogue of this film. It will mean a lot. If you try to check your Instagram during the movie, it will be a humiliation for the film. So I request everyone to keep their phones away.”
As per trade website Sacnilk, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ has so far sold 25,271 tickets for the opening day of its release, grossing Rs 84.27 lakh.
When one adds block seats to the mix, then the amount swells up to Rs 1.88 crore. For the unversed, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ has been granted an ‘Adults Only’ certificate. This is Akshay Kumar's second film in two years that has been given an ‘A’ certificate. Akshay Kumar's 2023 release ‘OMG 2’ had also been given an ‘A’ certificate.
‘Kesari Chapter 2’ deals with the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre happened on April 13, 1919. General REH Dyer ordered the Gurkha and Sikh infantry regiments to shoot after a large crowd gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab's Amritsar to protest against the Rowlatt Act.
It has been produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films.
The first part of ‘Kesari’ was released in 2019. The film followed the events leading to the Battle of Saragarhi. Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra starred in the 2019 movie.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar was last seen in ‘Sky Force’, alongside Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan and Nimrit Kaur. The movie did a business of more than Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office.
Akshay Kumar also has ‘Jolly LLB 3’ with Arshad Warsi in the pipeline. He will also be seen in ‘Housefull 5’.
