SYNOPSIS

Zakhmi Aurat (1988) is a landmark Indian crime-revenge drama that sparked significant controversy for its graphic portrayal of sexual violence and its radical take on justice. 

Synopsis
The film follows Inspector Kiran Dutt (Dimple Kapadia), a dedicated and courageous police officer. Her life is shattered when she is brutally gang-raped by three criminals—Sukhdev, Suryakant, and Ranjit—in retaliation for her police work. Despite her own testimony, the corrupt judicial system fails her, and the rapists are acquitted due to "lack of evidence". 

Driven by the failure of the law, Kiran abandons legal channels and forms a vigilante group consisting of other rape survivors. Together, they track down, trap, and castrate the rapists as a form of final justice, raising intense moral questions about retribution versus the legal system.
