IPL 2024 Opening Ceremony: Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff set the stage on fire while AR Rahman performed 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'.

Finally, the wait is over! Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is well and truly underway. The first game of the 17th season is being played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). However, ahead of the first game, a star-studded opening ceremony was held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and it was attended by the likes of Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Sonu Nigam, and AR Rahman.
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff danced to the songs of their upcoming film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'. The duo were seen grooving to 'Mast Malang Jhoom' and 'Wallah Habibi'.
The duo also performed some of their iconic songs like 'Jai Jai Shivshankar' and 'Make Some Noise For The Desi Boyz'.
Sonu Nigam and AR Rahman also sang some of their iconic chartbusters. However, the Chennai crowd loved the performance of AR Rahman when he performed 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'. The Oscar-winning composer also performed some of his other hits like 'Jai Ho' and 'Masakali'.

Talking about the opening match between CSK and RCB, the toss was won by RCB captain Faf du Plessis and he opted to bat first.
The first weekend of IPL 2024 will both be doubleheaders, starting with Punjab Kings taking on Delhi Capitals on Saturday afternoon, followed by the Kolkata Knight Riders hosting the SunRisers Hyderabad in the evening.
Sunday will see Rajasthan Royals welcome the Lucknow Super Giants in the first game of the day while in the evening 2022 champions and last year’s finalists Gujarat Titans will host five-time winners Mumbai Indians.
