Their New York lunch is just the latest in a series of recent meetups. In June 2025, De Niro showed his support by attending the New York premiere of Anupam Kher's directorial project, ‘Tanvi The Great’. The film, produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with the NFDC, holds special significance as it marks Anupam Kher's return to the director's chair after more than two decades, and it emerged as one of the most talked-about titles when it was screened at the Cannes market on May 17 last year.
Additionally, the duo previously caught up at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, a momentous occasion where Robert De Niro was honoured with the prestigious Palme d'Or for Lifetime Achievement.
