When Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor’s iconic romance in ‘Jab We Met’ hit the screens in 2007, they gave Bollywood one of its most memorable on-screen pairings. Fast forward to 2026, and a simple, warm hug between the two former flames at an IIFA 2027 press event in Mumbai has sent fans spiralling into a wave of pure nostalgia. The two actors, whose relationship was the talk of the town before they parted ways during the filming of the Imtiaz Ali classic, were seen exchanging a highly cordial greeting.
Kareena, exuding her signature style in a chic black leather skirt suit, was all smiles as she hugged Shahid, who looked sharp in a classic white suit. A video posted by a paparazzo page capturing the moment quickly went viral.

The internet, predictably, could not keep calm. The brief interaction sparked a massive outpouring of emotion from fans who still hold the characters of Geet and Aditya close to their hearts. Comments flooded social media platforms, with fans writing, “Why am I getting emotional seeing this” and “Why are we so happy?” One user summed up the collective feeling with a simple, “Hum emotional ho jate hai,” while another straightforwardly demanded, “Geet and Aditya.”
This isn't the first time the duo has crossed paths at an IIFA event recently. They shared a similar warm moment in March 2025 at the IIFA press conference in Jaipur. Addressing the frenzy it caused then, Shahid had nonchalantly stated, “For us, it's nothing new…aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte hain but it's totally normal for us…if people felt nice, it's nice.”
The recent event, which was also attended by stars like Rashmika Mandanna and Varun Dhawan, saw another significant interaction. Kareena was spotted sharing a sweet hug with superstar Salman Khan. The ‘Maatrubhumi’ star, dressed casually in a dark blazer and jeans, arrived under heavy security – a noticeable upgrade following the recent firing attack on Tiger Shroff by an aide of Lawrence Bishnoi. Salman was seen interacting with the management and greeting his industry colleagues amidst the heightened security presence.
Both Kareena and Shahid have long since moved on, building successful lives with their respective partners. Kareena married Saif Ali Khan in 2012, and they share two sons, Taimur and Jeh. Shahid tied the knot with Mira Rajput in 2015, and the couple has a daughter, Misha, and a son, Zain. Interestingly, the warmth seems to extend beyond the former couple, with Mira Rajput recently making an appearance on Kareena’s talk show, ‘What Women Want’.
