The MTV VMAs 2023 were held on Tuesday and Selena Gomez also attended the event. In the latest entertainment news, Selena Gomez made headlines for her now viral gesture when Chris Brown’s name was announced as one of the nominees in the Best R&B category. Selena Gomez's reaction sparked a meme fest on social media, and now the 'Only Murders In The Building' star has reacted to the same.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Selena Gomez wrote: "I’ll never be a meme again. I’d rather sit still than be dragged for being myself. Much love.”

For the unversed, Chris Brown remains a controversial figure after allegations of domestic violence against him surfaced. Chris Brown was accused of being violent towards his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. 

Selena Gomez and Rema won Best Afrobeats Video award for their uber-popular song 'Calm Down'.

On stage, Rema asked Selena Gomez to give her own speech, and it was then that Taylor Swift was seen cheering on for her. 

Taylor Swift ended up winning nine awards, including Song of the Year, Video of the Year and Artist of the Year. The artist also won Video of the Year for 'Anti-Hero'. Taylor Swift also won Moon Person trophies for Best Direction, and Album of the Year for 'Midnights'.

Taylor Swift attended the ceremony in person, although only four of her awards were presented during the live telecast.

The performers at the show included Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini, Anitta, Tomorrow X Together, Demi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin, Stray Kids, Fall Out Boy, Peso Pluma and Metro Boomin, reported Hollywood Reporter.
