'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' was showered with an enthusiastic six-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival.

'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' is one of the most-awaited new Hollywood movies of 2024, as it is a prequel of popular film 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. In the latest Hollywood news, the film held its premiere at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, and as per several media reports, the audience is going wild for this latest high-octane action film.

As per Variety, 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' was showered with an enthusiastic six-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival.

Lead actress Anya Taylor-Joy was seen blowing kisses into the camera as the clapping continued. Chris Hemsworth got a little teary-eyed, seeing the rapturous response.

“We worked very hard on this film, and it’ll be very interesting to see what you make of it,” director George Miller said briefly, as he addressed the crowd. 

“Thank you for having us," he added.

For the unversed, 'Furiosa' is set in a post-apocalyptic world before the events of 'Fury Road'.

Anya Taylor-Joy, is taking over the title role from Charlize Theron. Early in the film, a young Furiosa ends up being kidnapped, and is imprisoned by a group of bandits led by Warlord Dementus (Hemsworth).

The fifth installment of the 'Mad Max' franchise will be releasing in cinemas on May 23, 2024 in India. While in the US, the film will be releasing on May 24. 

'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' has been made on a budget of USD 168 million, as per Variety. 

'Mad Max: Fury Road', which was released in 2015, garnered both critical and commercial acclaim. It made more than USD 380 million at the worldwide box office, and also scored 10 nominations at the Academy Awards.

Warner Bros also confirmed that the new Hollywood movie will also be screening in IMAX.
