Malavika Mohanan Channels Royal Glamour In Black Velvet Lehenga. See Pics, Video
Malavika Mohanan served regal vibes in a black velvet Torani lehenga richly embroidered with antique gold zari.
Malavika Mohanan has steadily carved out a reputation as one of the most quietly powerful dressers in Indian cinema – someone who balances sensuality with sophistication and never lets either overwhelm the other. Whether she is stepping out in sleek western silhouettes or rooted, ornate Indian ensembles, her fashion choices are always intentional, refined and beautifully proportioned. She gravitates towards pieces that highlight structure, craftsmanship and feminine strength rather than fleeting trends, often choosing silhouettes that feel regal, sculpted and timeless. This careful balance between glamour and grace has made her style impactful.
For the pre-release event of ‘The Raja Saab’, Malavika Mohanan turned to Torani for a custom ensemble that leaned into opulence with restraint. Taking to Instagram, the Indian actress shared stunning photos of herself in black and gold lehenga.

In the stunning photos and video, the Indian actress posed in a black velvet lehenga set richly embroidered with antique gold zari work, creating a striking contrast between the deep, matte black base and the warm metallic embellishment.
The blouse was a structured, sweetheart-neckline choli with wide straps, densely adorned with traditional floral and paisley-inspired motifs in antique gold thread work. The lehenga skirt continued the same vocabulary, featuring vertical embroidered panels that elongated the silhouette, finished with a heavily worked border that anchored the look with weight and drama. Draped over one shoulder was a sheer black dupatta, kept light and fluid to soften the heaviness of the velvet and embroidery while framing the ensemble elegantly.
Malavika Mohanan’s accessories were kept in harmony with the regal tone of the outfit. She wore gold and pearl dangler earrings, which added just the right amount of luminosity to the look. The actress completed the look with a pearl and stone-work haath phool, lending a subtle royal touch without overpowering the outfit. There was no necklace, allowing the ornate blouse to remain the focal point.
Hair and makeup followed the same old-world glamour direction. Her hair was styled in brushed-out, voluminous waves swept to one side, giving softness and romance to the otherwise structured ensemble. Makeup featured smoky bronze-brown eyes, softly defined brows, flushed cheeks and a muted brown lip shade. A tiny black bindi added a traditional finishing note, tying the entire look back to its Indian roots.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Malavika Mohanan can be currently seen alongside Prabhas, Nidhhi Agerwal and Sanjay Dutt in ‘The Raja Saab’. The movie released in cinemas today.
Prior to this, she was seen alongside Siddhanth Chaturvedi in ‘Yudhra’, marking her second Hindi film after the Majid Majidi film ‘Beyond The Clouds’.
Before ‘Yudhra’, Malavika Mohanan was seen in the 2024 movie ‘Thangalaan’, directed by Pa Ranjith.
