Did you know Sushmita Sen was not the first choice for Disney+ Hotstar series 'Aarya'? In fact, it was offered to this big actress who turned it down.
Sushmita Sen made a riveting comeback to acting in 2020 with Disney+ Hotstar series 'Aarya'. The actress made a comeback after a gap of more than five years, and it was worth the wait. Sushmita Sen won a lot of praise for her phenomenal work in the series co-created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi. But did you know that Sushmita Sen was not the first choice for this series? Yes, you read that right. Raveena Tandon was initially the top pick for the lead role in 'Aarya'. However, the role eventually went to Sushmita Sen after Raveena opted not to do the series.
“While these were really exciting scripts, but somewhere I wanted to do something that the audience have never got a chance to see me as before. Hence, I chose Aranyak to be my digital debut. It really worked well for me. That year was just full of awards. That gamble paid off," Raveena Tandon told Hindustan Times.
“There are many times when I’ve met Ram and Nikhil (Madhok) from Hotstar then, that I said, ‘We have to do something (together).’ I’m really waiting to work with Ram. I had to explain to him why I couldn’t do Aarya. Then he understood my reason," she added.
Talking about 'Aarya', the series is about the titular character played by Sushmita Sen, and how she ends up entering the world of crime to protect her family.
Last year, the first four episodes of Season 3 were released on Disney+ Hotstar, and the next few episodes of the latest season will be released on February 9, 2024.
Talking about Raveena Tandon, she had made her digital debut with the Netflix series 'Aranyak'.
She will next be seen in the Disney+ Hotstar series 'Karmma Calling', which will be premiering on the OTT platform on January 26.
