Akshay Kumar’s new Hindi movie ‘Sarfira’ has been witnessing a tough time as it has failed to find takers at the box office. It has been five days since the film's release in theatres, and it is yet to breach the Rs 20 crore mark. ‘Sarfira’ is emerging as one of the worst performing films of Akshay Kumar's career. For the unversed, the new Hindi movie is a remake of Suriya's National Award-winning Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ (2020), directed by Sudha Kongara. The original film is itself an adaptation of GR Gopinath’s memoir ‘Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey’.

As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Sarfira’ minted Rs 1.75 crore on Tuesday, day 5 of its release. The nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 15.20 crore. ‘Sarfira’ is just managing to pace ahead of ‘Selfiee’. The lifetime collection of ‘Selfiee’ stood at Rs 17.03 crore in India.

For the unversed, ‘Sarfira’ is Akshay Kumar’s 150th film. There was a time when Akshay Kumar was known as the “box office king,” but the actor is now witnessing a rough patch. Several of his recent releases — 'Samrat Prithviraj', 'Raksha Bandhan', 'Ram Setu', 'Selfiee', 'Mission Raniganj', and 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' — have turned out to be colossal flops.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sarfira’ was released in cinemas on Friday (July 12), alongside Shankar and Kamal Haasan's ‘Indian 2’. The new Tamil film minted Rs 3 crore on Tuesday, the fifth day of its release, as per Sacnilk. The nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 65.15 crore.

Coming to Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani, the new pan-India film continues to dominate the box office. Going by the box office collection, the film is easily the first choice among cinephiles.

On Tuesday (Day 20 of its release), 'Kalki 2898 AD' minted Rs 5.10 crore, as per Sacnilk. Out of this Rs 5.10 crore, the Hindi version contributed Rs 3.10 crore. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 589.10 crore.

The Hindi version has so far minted Rs 260.10 crore, while the Telugu version has made Rs 268.15 crore. As per the makers, 'Kalki 2898 AD' has registered a worldwide gross box office collection of Rs 1,000 crore.

Lastly, speaking of Raghav Juyal and Lakshya's 'Kill', which has been backed by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga, minted Rs 0.75 crore on Tuesday (12th day of its release). As per Sacnilk, the total nett domestic collection of the film currently stands at Rs 16.35 crore.
