It is a good time to be a cinephile as movies from different genres are currently playing in cinemas. Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina's 'Jigra' and Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri's 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video', released in cinemas on Friday, October 11. In the latest entertainment news, both the Hindi films, have underperformed on the opening day of their release. However, 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' has managed to beat 'Jigra' on Day 1.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' earned Rs 5.20 crore on the opening day of its release. On Day 1, the new Hindi film had an overall occupancy of 17.18 per cent.
Speaking of 'Jigra', directed by Vasan Bala, the new Hindi film earned just Rs 4.25 crore on the opening day of its release. Out of this Rs 4.55 crore, Rs 4.50 crore came from the Hindi version, while the Telugu version contributed Rs 0.05 crore.
On Friday, 'Jigra' had an overall 20.13 per cent Hindi occupancy. It is important to mention that 'Jigra' is now Alia Bhatt's lowest opener since 2014's 'Highway', which was the second film of her career.
For the unversed, Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway' had made Rs 3.40 crore on the opening day of its release, but eventually managed to make Rs 30 crore in India. It now needs to be seen whether 'Jigra' even manages to reach this figure or not.
Speaking of 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video', the Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial marks the first collaboration between Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. However, the film has taken a lower opening than Rajkummar's previous releases, 'Stree 2' and 'Mr & Mrs Mahi'.
The opening is also lower than Triptii Dimri's previous release, 'Bad Newz', which also stars Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk.
Coming to Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Fahadh Faasil-starrer 'Vettaiyan', the new Tamil film earned Rs 23.8 crore on Friday, the second day of its release. The total nett collection of the film now stands at Rs 55.50 crore, in India.
Lastly speaking of Koratala Siva's 'Devara: Part 1', starring Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, the new Telugu film earned Rs 2.65 crore on Friday, the 15th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 263.50 crore.
