Shahid Kapoor Reveals Why His Son Was Shocked After Watching 'Jab We Met'
Shahid Kapoor has revealed that his son was shocked after watching 'Jab We Met', co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer ‘Jab We Met’, directed by Imtiaz Ali, is one of the most iconic rom-com movies of all time. Be it the film’s songs, the light-hearted storyline or the fun dialogues, the charm of ‘Jab We Met’ is unbeatable. The film was released in cinemas in 2007, and 16 years later, it is still viewed as one of the finest movies in Shahid and Kareena’s careers. Recently, Shahid Kapoor revealed that his kids Misha and Zain had never seen his films until they recently watched 'Jab We Met'.
The Imtiaz Ali directorial had recently re-released in theatres, and it was then that Shahid's wife, Mira Rajput, took the kids to the cinemas to watch the movie.
In a chat with Pinkvilla, Shahid Kapoor shared that his wife would ask about taking their kids for one of his films.
“So, for the longest time, Mira would ask me, ‘What movie of yours should I show the kids?’ And I would be like, ‘Not a single one.’ Some are not good and the ones that are good are not meant for kids. So, the first film they saw of mine and they actually went to the theatre was Jab We Met," Shahid Kapoor said.
Shahid Kapoor then revealed his son’s reaction to seeing him without a beard in the film.
“Mira and my mom made this plan that finally there is this one film that we can show the kids. They went and watched Jab We Met in the theatre. My son came back and he looked at me and said, ‘Papa, that is how you look without a beard?’”
Talking about 'Jab We Met', Shahid said, “When I heard the script, I completely loved it. I didn’t have the strongest part. I knew the female part was the strongest part in the film, still, I wanted to be a part of the film.”
“I felt it was a very relevant, new age love story where people were speaking like how normal people in their 20s speak, and not how people in their 40s acting to be 20s in movies speak. Imtiaz came up with something which was very real and relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wanted the film to be on my filmography,” he added.
Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Jio Cinema's 'Bloody Daddy'. The movie was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. This year, Shahid Kapoor also made his OTT debut with the Amazon Prime Video series ‘Farzi’. The Raj & DK series, also starring Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon and Raashii Khanna, became a massive hit.
He will next be seen in an untitled romantic film, co-starring Kriti Sanon. The romantic comedy, which will mark Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s first collaboration, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on February 9, 2024.
The movie is being produced by Dinesh Vijan, Jyoti Deshpande and Laxman Utekar. The untitled romantic film is written and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah. As per reports, the movie is expected to be a love story with a science-fiction twist.
