Rashmika Mandanna recently weighed in on the North vs South film industry debate.

Rashmika Mandanna, who is fondly referred as “national crush” by her fans, is currently riding high on the success of her last release ‘Animal’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The 2023 Hindi movie, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri and Anil Kapoor, went on to earn more than Rs 500 crore in India, despite facing severe backlash for glorifying toxic masculinity and misogyny. Rashmika Mandanna is now gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, co-starring Allu Arjun.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the Indian actress opened up about the North vs South film industry debate, completing her 22nd film, working on ‘Pushpa 2’ and more.

Having worked in both Hindi and South film industries, Rashmika Mandanna emphasized on the need to end the debate and view the industries as a whole.

Rashmika said, “I think it’s about time that we start calling out the industry as the Indian film industry because we are all in the entertainment industry, and we are all one country. And it’s high time that we start acknowledging that all the industries in our country are the same. We are all here to do some mad, cool films and tell some really cool stories.”

The Indian actress added, “I love the fact that the barriers are going down, and people are working together in different industries and different languages despite where they belong. I’m really happy that I’m part of the change as well.”

Rashmika Mandanna also spoke about completing her 22nd film and added, “I have just wrapped up my 22nd film, and it has taken me 22 films to actually be here today. So it’s been quite hard work and quite a journey, but today I’ve given people comfort to write stories for me, trust me with big films and good stories. I think it’s the journey that I’ve had, and I feel absolutely blessed. I feel extremely confident and some sort of relief.”

Talking about the much-awaited ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, she said, “It’s been going great. We are almost 50 plus days into the film, and there’s a lot more to do, but as I always keep promising my audience that it’s going to be bigger than ever before. There’s a lot of hard work put in and a lot of focus on the detailing taken care of. There’s a lot of focus on each character that’s being taken care of, and that’s amazing.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rashmika Mandanna will next be seen in 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', co-starring Allu Arjun and Fahadh Faasil. She also has 'Chhava' in the pipeline, in which Rashmika will be sharing the screen with Vicky Kaushal.

In the film, Vicky Kaushal will be playing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, while Rashmika will play the role of his wife.

The movie is being directed by Laxman Utekar, who had earlier helmed Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan's 'Zara Hatke Zara Bachke'.
