Recently, the Bollywood actor spoke to News18 and shared that he has experienced his fair share of discrimination for his looks. Nawazuddin Siddiqui also called himself the “ugliest” actor of Hindi cinema.

While speaking to News18, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “Pata nahi shakalo se humari nafrat kyun hai kuch logon ko. Kyunki shakal hi aisi hai – itne badsurat hai hum log. Humein bhi lagta hai jab apne aap ko aaine mein dekhte hai. Hum bhi bolte hai apne aap ko ‘kyun aa gaye film industry mein itne gande shakal leke?”

Calling himself “the ugliest actor”, Nawazuddin Siddiqui added, “I have been hearing it for so long that I’ve started to believe it. I have no complaints about the film industry.”

“I want to thank all the directors who have given me a variety of characters. Agar aapke andar thoda saa bhi talent hai toh industry bohot kuch deti hai. Society mein discrimination hai, industry mein nahin,” Nawazuddin Siddiqui further said.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had also recently addressed discrimination in the film industry based on physical appearance. He told Janice Sequiera, “This industry doesn’t respect people. They think that Nawazuddin is dark-skinned, Pankaj Tripathi is normal, Manoj Bajpayee is a ‘gaonwala’... That’s how they view people.”

Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently featured in the Zee5 film ‘Rautu Ka Raaz’, a crime mystery drama based in a small village in Uttarakhand.
