Malaika Arora's father committed suicide after jumping off a building terrace on Wednesday morning, police said.

Bollywood actress Malaika Arora's father has reportedly died by suicide on Wednesday morning, Mumbai Police said. As per NDTV, Malaika's father Anil Mehta jumped from the sixth floor of a building in Mumbai's Bandra. Malaika Arora's ex-husband Arbaaz Khan and senior police officers have reached her residence. As per several reports, the body has been sent for post-mortem and a probe is now underway.

Sources close to Malaika, however, told indianexpress.com that it was an accident. “It’s an accident. We will be sharing the police panchanama once we receive it,” she said.

The visuals of Arbaaz Khan reaching the residence of Malaika Arora's mother, were shared by the paparazzo account Viral Bhayani, on Instagram.

"Shocking incident as Malaika's father, Anil Arora, was found dead in his building. Arbaaz Khan was the first one to reach out to the family. The matter is still under investigation, and the cops are ascertaining the actual cause of the demise," the paparazzo account wrote.

As per news agency ANI, the incident took place around 9 am on Wednesday morning. 

Speaking of Malaika Arora, she is known for her super-fit body and impeccable dancing skills.

Arbaaz Khan was previously married to Malaika Arora, and the duo is co-parents to son Arhaan. Arbaaz and Malaika Arora had parted ways in 2017. They were married for 19 years before going their separate ways.

Malaika Arora recently appeared as a judge on the reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11’. She served as a judge on the show along with Farah Khan and Arshad Warsi.

Malaika Arora has also judged a couple of other dance shows, including ‘India's Best Dancer’, ‘Nach Baliye’, and ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’. She also judged shows like ‘India's Got Talent’ and ‘Supermodel Of The Year’.

She is best known for her dance performances to popular tracks such as ‘Chaiya Chaiya’, ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’, ‘Anarkali Disco Chali’ and ‘Hello Hello’, among many others.
