“We Are Still Not...”: Kareena Kapoor Reveals Why She Is Reluctant To Do Intimate Scenes
Kareena Kapoor Khan has rarely performed any intimate scenes in Hindi films, and she has finally revealed the reason behind making this conscious choice.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has rarely performed intimate scenes in Hindi films, and she has finally revealed the reason behind making this conscious choice. While speaking to Hollywood star Gillian Anderson for Dirty Magazine, the ‘Jab We Met’ actress talked about how intimate scenes are perceived differently in India and the West. The topic came up for discussion when Kareena was asked the reason behind refraining from doing such scenes.
“I personally feel like it's not important to take a story forward. It's not something that I feel is required in the narrative to show that. I know that I might not be comfortable doing that on screen. I never have done it. It's just the way we look at the whole idea. We don't look at sexuality or sex as a human experience,” Kareena Kapoor said.
“We have to start looking at and respecting that a lot more before we put it on screen. It's my belief. Where I am coming from is the fact that we are still not as open as you are, having the narrative out there for you to experience so freely. While female desire is openly tackled in the West, it has always been so open about it,” she added.
For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor had previously essayed the role of a sex worker in her 2003 film 'Chameli', directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.
Kareena Kapoor was recently seen performing at the IIFA Awards 2025 in Jaipur. She paid a homage to Raj Kapoor and was seen performing to some of his iconic songs.
Further speaking about her age, Kareena said that she is comfortable with the natural changes in her appearance.
“I think it’s a personal choice. I mean, I enjoy a few lines here and there on my face. I think it kind of looks sexy. Somehow, I feel happier in my 40s than I was in my 20s. I just want it to take its natural course. I’m not old yet, so I’m still rocking,” she said.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan last featured in Rohit Shetty's ‘Singham Again’. The movie, co-starring Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff and Akshay Kumar, minted over Rs 240 crore in India.
The film was released in cinemas on November 1 last year, clashing with Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’.
Prior to ‘Singham Again’, Kareena Kapoor starred in ‘The Buckingham Murders’.
