Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who will soon be seen in 'Singham Again', alongside Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Ranveer Singh and Kareena Kapoor, has recalled receiving criticism for her performance in 2007's 'Om Shanti Om'. She also said that audience doubted her "talent and capabilities". Deepika Padukone's remark comes amidst the trolling she is receiving on social media for her acting and accent in 'Singham Again'. Deepika Padukone's performance is not being appreciated as the trailer for the movie was unveiled recently.

Talking about 'Om Shanti Om', Deepika said that people mocked her accent and diction in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, which was directed by Farah Khan. It is important to mention that Deepika's voice was dubbed by another artiste in the Farah Khan film.

As a part of the Live Love Laugh lecture series, Deepika Padukone was in conversation with media mogul Arianna Huffington.

During the conversation, she said, "When my debut movie Om Shanti Om released, there were quite a few bad reviews, but I specifically remember this one bad review which pushed me to work on myself. It spoke about my accent, my diction, my talent and capabilities. Negativity is sometimes a good thing, it’s what you make of it. The larger picture is what do you do with that criticism, how do you look at it positively."

“For someone who makes time for themselves, or takes a weekend off, people think that person is not driven, which I find so bizarre. If someone needs downtime or time for themselves, they think this person is not motivated enough so let’s look for someone who is ready to burn the midnight oil, because that person is hardworking, so committed. For me, it comes from being an athlete, that you need your rest, you need your recovery to perform better,” she added.

Deepika Padukone will be playing the role of police officer Shakti Shetty in 'Singham Again'. The film is slated to release in cinemas on November 1, 2024.

The movie will clash with Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan-starrer 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'.

Deepika and Ranveer had recently welcomed their first child, a baby girl.
