Bollywood's A-listers are increasingly flexing their muscles for a different kind of cause.

Forget six-pack abs and million-dollar weddings, Bollywood's A-listers are increasingly flexing their muscles for a different kind of cause. We all know about the glitz, the glamour, the paparazzi frenzy, but there's a whole other side to these celebrities – a side that's passionate about giving back. From education and healthcare to environmental protection and mental health awareness, many Bollywood stars are actively involved with celeb NGO's & Social Welfare Organisations.

These film celeb foundations provide employment, healthcare, education, and a helping hand to the most disenfranchised members of society. To build a nation of human beings, it is everyone's responsibility to support and value one another.

1. Samantha Ruth Prabhu - Pratyusha Support

First in the list of film celeb foundations, founded by one of the most beautiful divas of Indian cinema Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Pratyusha Support started its social services in February 2014. Started with the mission of providing incomparable medical support to needy children and women. Pratyusha Support also fulfils the hope of people going through life-threatening diseases.

They have been closely collaborating with hospitals, mostly in the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Aside from that, they have arranged free medical camps, including one for eye surgery for 50 senior citizens, because of their collaborations with Meenakshi Mission Hospital in Chennai and the WAP Foundation in Bangalore.

Free medical tests, free childhood immunisations, blood drives, awareness campaigns, and financial assistance for families going through difficult circumstances or dealing with medical emergencies have been some of its primary services.

2. Rahul Bose - Group of Groups and Foundation

Among the film stars and their NGO initiatives, Rahul Bose is next. Rahul Bose is a multi-talented man, best known for his outstanding roles in Mr. and Mrs. Iyer and Dil Dhadakne Do. Even though Rahul Bose works extremely hard as an actor, writer, and athlete, he still finds time to give back to the community.

Apart from starring in several oddball movies, this actor has successfully advocated for social reform. He founded two non-governmental organisations: Foundation, which teaches children from poor families in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Group of Groups, which is the parent body of over 51 charities and NGO clusters in Mumbai.

He was also one of the first Bollywood celebrities to be named an Oxfam Global Ambassador in 2007. The actor is associated with several other organisations, such as Citizens of Justice and Peace, Breakthrough, Akshara Center, and the Teach for India initiative. He has been quite vocal about his support for the Narmada Bachao Andolan.

In addition, he emphasises the need for communal harmony and gender equality. He has spent the last three years working regularly with around 80 Muslim, Dalit, and Hindu girls as part of a program initiated by the non-governmental organisation Akshara Centre, situated in Bombay.

He has written a great deal about the former subject and delivered lectures on it at many forums. He serves on the advisory board of Breakthrough, a non-governmental organisation based in New York that advocates for gender equality and human rights. He addressed the topic in a speech at the World Youth Peace Summit in 2003.

It performs selfless work to support the VEER program, which trains and hires people with disabilities and provides funds for students' education at partner schools. The group also makes financial donations to support the medical needs of underprivileged kids.

The bulk of the organisation's revenue comes from the sale of products bearing the Being Human trademark.

4. Deepika Padukone - LiveLoveLaugh Foundation

The well-known Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who has struggled with depression and anxiety, decided to start this foundation in an attempt to save at least one life after realising that mental health issues were not well-understood or stigmatised in India.

Deepika Padukone founded the LiveLoveLaugh Foundation in 2015 as a reaction to her own experience with mental illness. The LLL Foundation's goal is to assist those suffering from mental illnesses like anxiety, depression, and other conditions.

The LLL Foundation has launched a number of programs, including the Rural Program, which entails mental health specialists reaching out to the less fortunate groups in society to offer a free consultation on any mental ailment and to increase awareness. This initiative offers free mental health treatment, rehabilitation, frequent support group meetings, and access to government-funded initiatives.

It committed to setting up patient quarantine centres and supplying 50,000 PPE kits to medical staff during COVID-19.

Alongside his NGO, Shah Rukh Khan tops the list of one of the most charitable Bollywood celebs as well. He has worked quietly for years and won't brag about his charity activities, as compared to other celebrities. He has collaborated with over 10 NGOs to support orphaned children, the poor and needy, and victims of acid attacks.

He supported kid immunisation in India in 2005 by taking part in a campaign alongside UNICEF and the Indian Health Ministry. UNESCO recognized him as the first Indian in recognition of his humanitarian activities.

6. Nana Patekar - Naam Foundation
