SYNOPSIS

Sweekar Kiya Maine (1983) is a Hindi comedy-drama directed by Zaheer D. Lari. The story follows a young woman who, after moving to Bombay to pursue a singing career, faces a series of romantic and personal complications when she must fake a marriage to secure housing.

Synopsis
Gopika Sharma lives a modest life in Bangalore with her widowed mother and dreams of becoming a singer. Encouraged by her uncle, Dubey, she travels to Bombay with her maid, Lajjo. The trip goes awry when they are molested upon arrival and her uncle goes missing. Left to fend for themselves, they struggle to find an apartment. 

To secure a place in a building owned by the strict Lala Dhaniram, Gopika agrees to a setup with a bachelor, Kishankumar Shukla, who poses as her husband. The two eventually fall in love and marry. However, complications arise when Gopika discovers Kishankumar was previously married to a woman named Radha (who has since passed away) and has a daughter. Heartbroken and upset by the deception, Gopika leaves him. 

After a series of events—including Kishankumar learning his daughter has died in an auto accident—the couple reunites, but with a twist: Gopika reveals she has a son from a prior relationship that she never disclosed, and Kishankumar is now faced with accepting this secret to truly make their marriage work.
