Plot Synopsis
The story follows Ajit (Dharmendra), a man who turns to robbery to support his impoverished family. He is eventually caught and serves a two-year prison sentence. Upon release, he vows to lead an honest life, as wished by his mother, but struggles to find a job due to his criminal record.
Fate intervenes when Ajit wins money in a wrestling match and buys a school bag that coincidentally contains a large sum of cash. He returns the money to the owner, a wealthy businessman named Premchand (Ajit), who, grateful for his honesty, offers him a job.
Ajit and Premchand's daughter, Rekha (Rekha), fall in love and plan to marry. The narrative takes a dramatic turn when:
A woman appears, claiming Ajit is her missing husband and the father of her child.
Ajit is falsely diagnosed with blood cancer (which is later revealed to be a lie) and attempts to break off the engagement for Rekha's sake.
He is framed for the murder of a man named Karam Singh (played by the director Arjun Hingorani in a cameo role) and sentenced to death.
In a climactic twist driven by "destiny" (as the title suggests), Ajit is rescued at the last moment when his pet dog locates a hidden film roll (which was captured by a kite) documenting the actual murder and exposing the real culprit.
