Synopsis
Set in 1987 in the rural forests of Tamil Nadu, the region is destabilized by "Makkal Padai" (The People's Army), an armed anti-government group led by the elusive Perumal. Following a devastating train bombing, a special police battalion is deployed to apprehend him.

The story is told through the eyes of Kumaresan, a naive and newly recruited police constable. His initial excitement for law enforcement is shattered when he is relegated to menial tasks in the wilderness and witnesses rampant corruption and human rights abuses by his superiors. Kumaresan befriends a local woman, Thamizharasi, and begins to learn about the harsh plight of her community. Caught between his duty to the police force and his own morality, Kumaresan risks everything to protect the villagers from systemic harassment, while the hunt for Perumal escalates.
